Former WBC super-middleweight champ Carl Froch has ruled out a move up to light heavyweight and a potential clash with WBO champ Nathan Cleverly, insisting , there is ‘no interest’ in any such bout.
Instead, the Nottingham, England based boxer believes there are far more potential clashes and more lucrative matches at 168lbs.
"Nobody’s interested in talk about me stepping up to light-heavyweight to fight Nathan Cleverly," Froch told Sky Sports.
"It’s boring, there are big fights for me - Mikkel Kessler, Lucien Bute, there’s more names I could roll off the tongue that would make people interested.
"We want to be fighting in Nottingham for a nice steady comeback fight. I don’t have easy fights but I’ll have a nice steady comeback and then look to challenge for a world title very soon."
Last time out Froch was soundly defeated by the excellent unbeaten Andre Ward and readily admits that there would not be much interest in a rematch right now
"I don’t think anybody is going to beat him," said a remarkably honest Froch. "There’s no excuses, he beat me on the night.
"If I had a rematch with him, then tactically it would be a totally different fight. That’s if we got the rematch - I can’t see it happening to be honest - but you never know."
