IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch says he is happy to defend his title against fellow Briton George Groves but he has to prove himself first.
Groves, fights again in Magdeburg, Germany on Saturday and Froch says that if he can defeat some meaningful opposition then a clash between could happen.
Speaking to Sky Sports Froch said: "George Groves needs to have a couple of fights, meaningful fights for people - not just me - for the boxing people to take him seriously.
"So if he can fight an Arthur Abraham or someone of that stature, or even a Lucian Bute and come through that, then I’ll happily [fight him]."
Froch added: "I’m champ, everyone wants to fight the champ. If he gets there he’ll deserve a shot but he’ll get a pasting, don’t worry about that."
