WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Mexican challenger Saul Alvarez came face to face at a heated press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday to discuss their May 5 rematch at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Speaking at the press conference Alvarez said: “I respect him, he has a good punch, but nothing out of this world”.

GGG said that he wants the Mexican to “stop and fight him” this time. However, what began with a lot of respect, little by little became heated. One of the top moments of the press conference was between Canelo and Abel Sanchez: “You promised that he was going to knock me out and he didn’t do anything to me, you’re the one who opens your mouth more because your boxer doesn’t even speak”, Álvarez said to Sánchez, who answered in a strong way: “don’t run next time and we’ll see”.

For his part, “GGG”, with a calmer character, invited the fans to not miss the fight on May 5th and added: “we are not here to make predictions, we are here to fight”. In the same line, José “Chepo” Reynoso, El Colorado’s trainer, said: “we don’t have to talk. On the day of the fight they will be the ones to talk with their gloves in the ring”.
