Green vs. Flores
|

Australian Danny Green will defend his IBO cruiserweight boxing world title against undefeated American BJ Flores on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at Challenge Stadium, Perth.
The two knockout punchers came face to face for the first time at a press conference at Star City in Sydney on Tuesday 7 September 2010.
With an imposing undefeated record of 24 wins with 15 by knockout and one draw, Flores is one of boxing’s emerging cruiserweight stars.
“I called Danny Green out in Biloxi last year and while it’s taken longer than I would have liked, it is a huge relief to finally have a shot at his world title,” said Flores. “Green is a powerful puncher which was never more evident than his win over Roy Jones Jr, but he has never fought anyone of my calibre.”
37 year-old Green 30-3 (27) declared his desire to fight a legitimate cruiserweight contender following his controversial TKO win over Paul Briggs in July and few come with better credentials than Flores.
“It has been a tough few months, but I’m focused on the future now and knocking out BJ Flores,” said Green. “He is a tough fighter at the top of his game, but I have a point to prove and it’s going to take more than BJ Flores to stop me.” 31 year-old Flores turned his back on a career in Mixed Martial Arts earlier this year for a chance to fight Green, with today’s announcement ending more than a year long negotiation process.
“It’s my dream to become a world champion and if it means travelling to Australia to achieve that, then so be it,” said Flores.
The Green-Flores fight will be televised live and exclusively on Main Event Television and at participating Fox Sports Pub & Club venues.
