Horn Prepared To Step in And Face Vargas

Australian school teacher Jeff Horn, the WBO No. 4 welterweight was quick to call out Jessie Vargas once he learned the news that IBF welterweight champ Kell Brook is now scheduled to face Gennady Golovkin on September 10.

‘The Hornet’ as he is affectionately known to his fans has blasted his way into contention having defeated six top 15 rated opponents in just 15 fights, a feat not many can show on their resume. In Horn’s last outing he stopped former world champion Randall Bailey inside seven rounds.

Speaking from his hometown in Queensland, Australia he had this to say on a possible showdown with the current WBO Champion: “While I respect Jessie for his ability and achievements to date, I know given the opportunity I can give him a boxing lesson”, said Horn.

A sentiment echoed by arguably the best boxer Australia has produced in three weight champ ‘Jeff Fenech’ who said “Without a doubt Jeff is the most exciting fighter to come out of Australia since Kostya Tszyu and myself graced the ring. He would give anyone in the division a hard fight and I am tipping him to be Australia’s next boxing superstar.”

Horn’s Promoter Dean Lonergan of Duco Events said:”We will get a message to Top Rank over the weekend and declare Jeff available for later in the year and see where it goes from there. This makes for an exciting fight and one I am sure the broadcasters would love. Jeff has a crowd pleasing style and this one would have the fans sitting on the edges of their seat guaranteed!”
