Injury Sidelines Alvarez




Saul, ‘Canelo’ Alvarez reported Monday that he suffered a fractured thumb during his ninth round knockout victory over Britain’s Liam Smith for the WBO junior middleweight title in Arlington, Texas on Saturday.

 

The injury was confirmed by specialist Dr. Pedro Jaime Lomeli. Following a number of x-rays and a CT scan, the doctor found that the right thumb suffered a fracture. surgery will not required.

 

Alvarez is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks and is expected make a move up to 160lbs.
