Inoue Dethrones Hernandez/ Yaegashi Retains Flyweight Crown

At just 20 years old and after only six professional fights Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue battered Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez, 29-3-1-(18), into submission inside six rounds to capture the WBC light flyweight title in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday.

Inoue dominated from the opening bell before decking the Mexican born champion with a ferocious right hand to score a tko victory after 2:54 of the sixth.

The bout was far more easier than anyone had expected for the young prospect against the far more experienced Hernandez.

In the co main event Akira Yaegashi , 20-3-(10), impressively retained his WBC flyweight title against Mexican challenger Odilon Zaleta, 15-4-(8), with a ninth round ko. A countering right after 2:14 of the ninth did the damage

Up until the stoppage the fight was pretty close as the WBC’s the open scoring system indicated Yaegashi was leading on two judges cards by scores of: 77-76 and 77-75. The third judge saw the fight even at 76-76.
