Olympic Super heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua took less than two round to destroy experienced journeyman Paul Butlin at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England on Saturday night.
The London born Gold medalist never put a foot wring in his second pro fight before a left jab and straight right hand decked and cut Butlin at the same time. Butlin managed to scramble to his feet and was allowed to continue but soon after referee Howard Foster wisely put a stop to the fight after 0.50 of the second round. Joshua fights again in London on November 14 and again on November 23 before finishing the year off with a fifth bout on December 14.
On the same Matchroom promoted card Britain’s Brian Rose scored a 12 round split decision win over Javier Francisco Maciel in a WBO light middleweight eliminator. The scores were 117-111 and 116-113 for Rose while the third official made Maciel the winner by a score of 115-113.
