British amateur star Deion Jumah (1-0, 1KO) marked his professional debut with an impressive first-round stoppage victory against Ruslan Bitarov (2-6-1, 2KOs) last Saturday (Feb 2) at the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany.
The powerful southpaw is now gearing up for his second bout against Igor Pylypenko (3-14-2), which will take place this Saturday (Feb 9) in Esbjerg, Denmark.
Boxing on the undercard of the Braehmer-Gutknecht EBU Light-Heavyweight title fight, Jumah got off to a comfortable start in Berlin, working well behind his jab and landing powerful shots at will. With only seconds remaining in the first-round Jumah rocked Bitarov with a strong left-hand before unloading an explosive body shot which sent the Lithuanian crashing to the canvas and down for the count.
‘’The fight went as well as I expected it to,’’ said Jumah. ‘’The plan was to take my time and pick my punches and I think I implemented that well. I was caught with a couple of shots that I shouldn’t have been but I am still learning and will improve with every fight. I can’t wait to get back into the ring.’’
Jumah has already arrived in Esbjerg where he faces Ukrainian Igor Pylypenko as part of Team Sauerland’s Nordic Fight Night series on Saturday night.
