Kameda Retains WBA Crown

Japanese boxer Koki Kameda retained his WBA bantamweight title defeating Panomroonglek Kaiyanghadaogym of Thailand by split 12 round decision in Osaka, Japan on Sunday.


Two judges scored 115-113 and 115-114 in favour of Kameda while one judge scored the fight 116-113 for the Thai challenger.


Kameda apologized for his uninspiring performance in a post fight interview after the fight, saying: "I’m sorry. It was not good at all...I’m very sorry for so many fans here."


It was Kameda’s sixth defence of the title since winning the vacant title in December 2010. Kameda improves his record to 30-1-(17), Panomroonglek, falls to 36-2-(19).
