Former world champion Amir Khan says he has now given up hope of facing pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 3 and feels disrespected.
Mayweather Jr had previously asked boxing fans to choose either Khan or Argentine based world champion Marcos Maidana as his next opponent by voting on his official website. Although Khan ran out a close winner in the poll it now appears Khan will not figure in the running to face the pound for pound king in Las Vegas on May 3.
No official announcement has been made yet but Khan seems adamant that he will not figure in Mayweather’s plans.
"No response from Mayweather or his team," Khan announced on Twitter. "Fight’s not happening.
"I should have taken the title fight last December against Alexander," wrote Khan. Very disrespected by his(Mayweather) team. Wasted my time. Good luck to Maidana against Mayweather.”
