Jerry Glick reporting from ringside: Dmitriy Salta, and his Star of David Promotions and co-promoter Fight Promotions, put on a show at Manhattan’s Webster Hall in front of a packed house. The welterweight contender turned promoter is working to build a stable of the future stars, and a bunch of them performed in nine exciting ring wars to the delight of those in attendance.
In the main event former amateur World Champion and Olympian Ievgen Khytrov, 165, boxed well and controlled the action in his pro debut against a willing Christian Nava, 166, who stayed with the former Olympian until a single left hook dropped Nava. Referee Rosato started to count but decided it was over at 2:57 of the first round of eight scheduled. Khytrov in now unbeaten at 1-0 (1 KO), and Nava falls to 2-5-1 (0 KOs).
In the co-feature Brooklyn’s undefeated, 7-0-1 (7 KOs), heavyweight knockout artist Jarrell Miller, all 266 pounds of him hammered, slammed, battered, and completely dominated a willing, but overmatched Sylvester Barron, 235. Barron, from Anacortes, WA, was crushed by an assortment of punches from the heavy fisted “Big Baby”. He was decked at the bell ending round one from a barrage of punches culminating with a savage right to the head. Barron, 8-3 (3 KOs), got up to go out to the slaughter in round two. He absorbed more power shots and went down again prompting referee Benji Estevez to stop the fight at 2:20 of round two.
