Wladimir Klitschko will defend his WBA heavyweight crown against interim champion Alexander Povetkin at the Olimpiisky Arena in Moscow, Russia on October 5.
The promoter of the event Andrei Ryabinsky told R-Sport on Tuesday that all the relevant contracts have been signed for $23 million fight.
"I’m very happy that the issue of hosting the fight has been resolved," Klitschko said in a statement. "This fight will be the best in the heavyweight category."
“The contracts needed to be approved by the WBA and that happened at the end of June,” Ryabinsky confirmed. “We’ve applied a lot of effort, but we are now dotting the Is and crossing the Ts and now we’ll have to wait for October to see this historic fight between two boxing titans.”
Klitschko,60-3-(51), will be entitles to 75% of the $23 million purse bid against 25% for Povetkin, the former Olympic champion who is unbeaten with a record of 26-0-(18).
