Maduma Defeats Carreon/DeGale Takes Out Demers

Ghislain Maduma, 14-0-(9), remained unbeaten at the Lac Leamy Casino in Gatineau Quebec, Canada on Friday night when he won a hard fought 10 round decision over Mexican Saul Carreon, 20-6-1-(13).

The contest was evenly matched with both men having success at various times. Carreon looked particularly impressive when he unloaded the left hand counter but Maduma always seemed to do just that little bit more in the exchanges to edge a very title contest. The scores were 99-91,97-93 and 96-94.

On the undercard WBC silver super middleweight champion James DeGale, 15-1-(9), took less than two rounds to ko Sebastian Demurs, 31-6-(11). DeGale landed just about every punch in the book before the bout was stopped after 1.58 of the second round. Demurs did his best to return fire but he DeGale was just too quick and powerful on the night.
