Former five time world champion, Terry Norris, and his wife Tanya have issued a message via Twitter and Facebook on behalf of stricken former champion, Gerald McClellan, and his family.
The following statement was made by Terry and Tanya yesterday:
I need your help and support. This is what my foundation Final Fight does. Gerald is having ER surgery to have his colon removed. His organs are starting to shut down because of his brain injury. Please donate to his trust by going to his site, and contacting his sister Lisa, who can explain more. Thank you all.
Terry and Tanya’s organisation, Final Fight, was designed specifically to raise awareness and funding for boxers who have suffered damage as a result of boxing. Terry himself has mild Parkinson symptoms, as a result of the sport, and seeks to protect others.

“My wife did research and found a lot of fallen champions.” says Norris with regret. “Tanya saw me going down that same dark path and came along just in time because I was drinking and trying to cope with life outside of the ring. We created a foundation called “The Final Fight” and hope to use it as a platform to get some really important rules in place. We want mandatory health insurance and MRI scans before every fight. Whatever we can do to protect fighters will be done because a large majority of them will end up with the syndrome if things stay as they are.”
