The IBF light middleweight title clash between Carlos Molina and Jermall Charlo in Las Vegas on Saturday night has been scrapped.
The bout was ko’d because Molina is locked up at from Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. Despite promoter Leon Margules posting $10,000 bond on Thursday the bout was scrapped and Molina will lose out on a $275,000 purse.
The bond was posted to release Molina after he was arrested for a 2007 warrant for not registering as a sex offender in Wisconsin. The police then discovered that Molina was also wanted for undisclosed reasons by immigration authorities despite the Mexican born boxer living and working in the US for the last 26 years.
The Showtime televised bout on the Canelo-Angulo PPV card will now feature a 135-pound matchup between Ricardo Alvarez Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson.
