Former light heavyweight contender Elivr Muriqi, 40-5-(24) edged out Paul Vazquez, 9-3-1-(3), over eight unimpressive rounds at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany, New Jersey on Friday.
Vazquez was regarded as no more than a routine return for Muriqi but proved a far tougher nut to crack ,especially late in the fight. Muriqi, however, managed to hold on to win by scores of 75-76 twice and 76-76.
On the undercard heavyweights John Lennox and Patrick “Paddy Boy” Farrell traded on even terms for most of the fight over six rounds with Lennox emerging a close split decision winner. The scores were 59-55, 58-56 for Lennox and 58-56 for Farrell.
