On Friday, April 4, in Salta Argentina, Luis Carlos Abregu TKO’d Jean Carlos Prada in eight rounds of a welterweight bout. Abregu raised his record to 36-1 (29). Prada fell to 30-1-1 (21).
Abregu retained his number ten ranking among SecondsOut’s top-rated welterweights.
At Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, Carl Frampton scored a second round KO of Hugo Fidel Cazares in a twelve round super bantamweight bout. The bout ended at the 1:38 mark. Cazares was dropped in the second. Frampton lifted his ledger to 18-0 (13). Cazares fell to 40-8-2 (27).
Frampton solidified his standing as the third best super bantamweight in the SecondsOut rankings.
On Saturday, April 5, at Stadthalle, Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, Juergen Braehmer stopped Enzo Maccarinelli in six rounds of a WBA light heavyweight title bout. Maccarinelli was saved from further punishment by his corner due to facial swelling. Braehmer raised his record to 43-2 (32) and notched his first defense of the title. Maccarinelli fell to 38-7 (30).
Braehmer climbed from seventh to sixth in the SecondsOut light heavyweight rankings. Andrej Fonfara fell from sixth to seventh.
At Hipodrome Caliente, Arena Tecate, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Giovani Segura stopped Felipe Salguero in the tenth and final round of their flyweight bout. The bout ended at the 1:55 mark with a battered Salguera falling to the canvas. Salguero was also down in round four. Segura improved his dossier to 32-3-1 (28). Salguero crashed to 19-6-1 (14).
Segura climbed from seventh to sixth in the SecondsOut flyweight rankings. Kazuto Ioka fell from sixth to seventh.
At Gran Estadio, Ciudad Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, Marco Antonio Rubio scored a tenth round KO of Domenico Spada in an interim WBC middleweight title bout. The end came at the 1:38 mark after a left hook dropped Spada. Rubio claimed the interim title and improved his numbers to 59-6-1 (51). Spada fell to 38-5 (19).
Rubio held down the number seven ranking among SecondsOut’s top-performing middleweights.
On Sunday, April 6, At Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan, Akira Yaegashi scored a ninth round KO of Odilon Zaleta in a WBC flyweight title bout. The end came at the 2:14 mark. Yaegashi made the third defense of his title and raised his resume to 20-3 (10). Zaleta plummeted to 15-4 (8).
Yaegashi remained SecondsOut’s third ranked flyweight in one of boxing’s deepest divisions.
Also on the card, Adrian Hernandez lost his title to Naoya Inoue in a WBC light flyweight title bout. Inoue scored a sixth round TKO of Hernandez after the champion failed to make weight on the first attempt. Inoue won his first world title and improved his record to 6-0 (5). Hernandez fell to 29-3-1 (18).
Inoue jumped from number nine to first in the SecondsOut light flyweight rankings. Hernandez fell from second to sixth. Johnreil Casimero fell from first to second. The previously ranked six through eight fighters each fell one ranking.
Also on the card, Roman Gonzalez scored a third round TKO of Juan Purisima in a flyweight bout. Gonzalez’ body attack ended matters at the 1:20 mark. Gonzalez raised his dossier to 39-0 (33). Purisima fell to 11-5-1 (4).
Gonzalez remained SecondsOut’s top-rated flyweight in a division with ever-growing talent.
Also on the move, Arash Usmanee is moving up in weight to meet Raymundo Beltran next week and has been removed from the SecondsOut super featherweight rankings. The previously ranked six through ten contenders climbed one ranking. Juan Manuel Lopez climbed aboard to fill the ten spot.
