Perez Wins A War In Guaira

Venezuelan boxer Johan Perez, 19-1-1-(13), retained his WBA interim light welterweight title via 10th round tko over the game and resilient Dominican Republic based challenger Fernando Mont de Oca, 15-3-(12), Domo Maria Vargas in the city of Guaira in Venezuela on Saturday.

The challenger went on the attack from the opening bell and enjoyed much success over the next few rounds but in the second part of the fight Perez wised up and boxed more, which allowed him to nick a few rounds.

By the 10th round Perez’s box and move strategy forced the exhausted challenge to remain on his stool at the end of the 10th round. Perez retained his title but Oca made him work every inch of the way until the retirement.

On the undercard, local female boxer Ogleidis Suarez won the WBA interim super featherweight title with a unanimous decision over Calixta Salgado.
