Rigondeaux To Defend Titles Against Guzman In Macao

WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, 13-0-(8), will defend his titles against Jonathan Guzman, 16-0-(16), in Macao, China on July 19th.

On the same card Brian Viloria and Chinese boxing sensation Zou Shiming will face opponents soon to be confirmed.

Rigondeaux’s manager Gary Hyde revealed that the Guzman fight will be his last fight under current promoter Top Rank Inc

“When you consider Donaire(Nonito), who Rigo schooled, fought four times in 2012 it begs the question why is the pound for pound number three so inactive?” said Hyde. “Rigo is the most avoided world champion in boxing right now. None of the other ‘beltholders’ or their promoters will even mention his name never mind call him out. Let’s hope that Rigo will get at least three fights per year for the next three years from his new promoter.”
