Rodriguez Jr. Unifies Minimumweight Titles


WBO Minimumweight champ Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez Jr.,15-2-(10), defeated IBF titleholder Katsunari Takayama, 27-7-(10), to unify the titles at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Saturday.

 

Rodriguez decked Takayama in round three but Takayama fought his way back into the fight with both rocking each other in the latter part of the fight. In the end,tohugh, it was Rodriguez who was favoured by the judges over 12 hard fought rounds by scores of 116-111, 115-112, and 119-108.

 

In other action featherweight Tomas Rojas out-pointed Irving Berry over 10 rounds
