Roman And Matsumoto Weigh In For Title Bout

WBA super bantamweight champion Daniel Roman and Japanese challenger Ryo Matsumoto made weight in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday title bout at the Korakuen Hall on Wednesday night.

Roman, from Los Angeles, California, hit the scales at 121lbs, while the Asian challenger weighed in at 121lbs 9oz.

For Roman, this will be the first defense of his belt, which he won in September 2017 with a victory over Shun Kubo. Despite being the champion, the Californian knows he has much more to do in Boxing. “Right now, I am world champion, but I still have much to prove to convince that I am a great universal monarch. I have to face the best in the world and Matsumoto is a deserved challenger for me, since he is a very strong boxer”, said the champion after the weigh-in.

For his part, Matsumoto talked about his strategy to make the weight and how it was beneficial for his physical condition. The Asian boxer assured that he will make a great fight and that he will try to win with the belt at all costs.

Roman has a record of 23 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 9 knockouts, while Matsumoto has a record of 21 wins, 1 loss and 19 knockouts.
