Romero Claims Vacant IBF Belt


In a super bantamweight bout Jonathan Romero won a 12 round split decision over Alejandro Lopez to claim the vacant IBF super bantamweight title at the Auditorio Municpal in Tijuana, Mexico on Saturday.

 

The Scores were 116-111, 115-112 for Romero, 115-112 for Lopez.

 

In a clash of unbeaten bantamweights, Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez Jr. scored an impressive second round knockout over Hanzel “Tornadito” Martinez. Gonzalez Jr. is the son of former world champion Alejandro Gonzalez while Martinez is the nephew of Antonio Margarito.

 

In a middleweight bout Jose “Bolivita” Uzcategui won a 10 round unanimous decision over Rogelio “Porky” Medina. The scores were 96-93, 97-92, 97-92.

 

middleweight Matt Korobov scored a fifth round tko win over Arturo “Caballo” Rodriguez.
