Smith Stops Dodson In 6

Paul Smith defeated fellow Liverpudlian Tony Dodson inside six rounds to claim the vacant British super middleweight title at the Bolton Arena in Bolton on Saturday night.

After 2.30 of the sixth round Dodson, blood flowing from a cut above his right eye, walked onto a big right hand, prompting referee Richie Davies step in and stop the fight.

Smith scored a unanimous points win over Dodson in March, 2010 but went one better this time by stopping his local rival.

Smith improves to 33-3 while Dodson drops to 29-8-1.
