Canadian puncher Adonis Stevenson scored a stunning first round knockout upset of Chad Dawson at the Bell Center in, Montreal, Canada on Saturday night to claim the WBC light heavyweight crown.

The 35 year-old adopted Canadian produced a single looping left hook to finish the job after just 1.16 of the opener and Stevenson beamed afterwards: “You understand why people don’t want to fight me now?”

“The game plan: use my speed, put the pressure on and, as soon as I had a good chance, put my left at the top,” Stevenson,21-1-(19) added. “I put my left, I caught him, that’s a beautiful punch.”
