IBF Middleweight Champion Felix Sturm is just weeks away from his first title defense. On May 31, Sturm will enter the ring at the Koenig PALAST in Krefeld, Germany, against mandatory challenger Sam Soliman from Australia in a rematch.

To give an insight into Sturm’s preparation The champion hosted a Media Day earlier this week to allow German sports journalists to see how his preparation is going.

Below is some quotes from Sturm and his trainer, Fritz Sdunek:

Felix Sturm: “I’m excited about Krefeld. It’s a great arena, the atmosphere will be electric. A lot has happened since I first fought Soliman. I learned from my mistakes and I’m much more disciplined now. I’m not emotional about this fight. I’m just doing my job and I love doing it. I enjoy every day of training and I’m in tip-top shape. Soliman will be surprised. He doesn’t know what’s coming for him. He’s the challenger, I’m the world champion. And I will remain world champion.”

Fritz Sdunek: “Felix has developed a lot. Especially considering his weight, he’s much more disciplined now. We can focus on the important things. We finished the first couple of sparring days and Felix is in an astonishing shape. Soliman better be ready.”
