Felix Sturm (34), the long-time Middleweight WBA Super-Champion is eager to
get back to the top of the boxing world and July 6th, 2013 will mark the first step towards that goal, when Sturm returns to the ring at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany.
His opponent will presumably be announced during the next week. The bout will be broadcasted live in Germany by SAT.1. After a close loss via split decision to current IBF world champion Daniel Geale and the scandal-ridden fight with Sam Soliman, who was disqualified by the Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer after failing a doping test
following the bout, Sturm is out to silence his critics: “My loss to Geale was unlucky. I know I can do better than I did back in September. I’m sure there will be a rematch down the road. But the fans will already see the return of the
real Felix Sturm in my next fight. I don’t want to say much about the Sam Soliman doping scandal anymore. I stated numerous times that there is no room for cheaters in sports and I stand by that.”
“I can promise my fans that I’ll be middleweight champion for a fourth time pretty soon. I’m a hundredth percent sure that I have that in me.” The boxing event at the Westfalenhalle will feature spectacular action on the undercard as well. German top prospect Konni Konrad (27) will make his debut under the Sturm Box-Promotion banner against the well-known and dangerous Edison Miranda (32).
The Columbian made a name for himself when he broke the jaw of former world champion Arthur Abraham in a grueling battle in 2006. But Felix Sturm is confident about the new talent of his stable: “I truly believe that Konni could be fighting for the light heavyweight title soon.”
Another highlight will be the title defense of WBA interim flyweight Susi Kentikian (25). “I’m excited about July 6th”, Kentikian said. “No one will stop me, I can guarantee my fans a victory.” Light middleweight hopeful Maurice Weber (31) will also be on the card. Felix Sturm: “This is by far the best event Sturm Box-Promotion has done so far. I can’t wait for July 6th.”
