Taylor Retains Title For The First Time

Irish Katie Taylor out-pointed American Jessica McCaskill to retain her WBA Lightweight Title for the first time at the York Hall in London, England Wednesday.


Taylor took control in the early rounds, managed to dodge punches and connected her right cross on her rival’s face. However, in the intermediate rounds, things got a little difficult for her. In the sixth, McCaskill landed a right to the head and in the seventh she was deducted a point.


In the end, the fight went to the cards and the judges favored Taylor with via unanimous 10 round decision: 97-92, 97-92 and 98-91. Thus, the Irish boxer extended her unbeaten record to 8-0-(4).
