Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas, 36-2-1-(21), won the vacant WBC super bantamweight title with a split decision win over former WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares, 47-6-2-(22) at the new Arena Mexico in Mexico City on Saturday.
The scores were 114-113, 115-112 for Terrazas and 114-113 for Mijares.
In the main undercard fight, former two-weight world champion Juanma Lopez, 33-2-(30) scored a second round knockout win over Gerardo Espinoza. The time of the stoppage was 0 59.
Unbeaten super flyweight McJoe Arroyo, 13-0-(7), recovered from a first round knockdown to win an eight round decision against Jairo Hernandez. The scores were 76-75, 78-73 and 77-74.
In a flyweight bout Jonathan Gonzalez, 13-0-(11), went the full eight rounds against Francisco Perez, 10-3,-(5), to win on points. The scores were 78-74 twice and 77-75.
middleweight Gilberto Ramirez improved to 25-0 when he scored a third round knockout win over late replacement Juan Monterrosa. A body shot finished off Monterrosa after 2:06 of the third.
