Grigory Drodz captured the European cruiserweight title with an excellent 11th round stoppage over previously unbeaten champion, Mateusz Masternak.
Drodz cut the champion early with a chopping right hand in the 2nd over the left eye but Masternak fought bravely throughout the fight and had success in the middle rounds and his cut did not appear to worsen.
Drodz however, remained on top and forced the stoppage in the 11th and claimed the European crown in the process.
With the victory the Russian improves to 37-1 with 25 ko’s and the Pole, Masternak falls to 30-1 with 22 ko’s
Ruslan Chagaev, former Alexander Povetkin opponent and one time WBA Heavyweight title holder, dropped his opponent Javo Pudar in rounds 3 and 8 on route to a 12 round unanimous decision. With the win Chagaev moves to 32-2-1, 20 KOs and Pudar drops to 30-4, 17 KOs.
Former Olympic Gold medallist, Rakim Chakhkiev managed to get past tough and game Giulian Ilie via a 10th round KO, courtesy of a classy right hand. The Russian bounces back from a stoppage defeat in his last outing, a failed WBC world title challenge against Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.
