Boxing’s biggest puncher, Edwin Valero is targeting a showdown with pound ofr pound king Manny Pacquiao.
The Venezuelan knockout king, fresh from his stoppage win over Antonio DeMarco last weekend, boasts a perfect record of 27 knockouts in as many fights- and now has WBC lightweight king ‘Pacman’ in his sights.
DeMarco, was indeed a brave and worthwhile challenger but after nine rounds, DeMarco was badly cut around the right eye and on the verge of being stopped until his corner decided they had seen enough and threw in the towel.
After the fight Valero said he is prepared to move up in weight and take on pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao. “That’s the fight the world wants to see,” said Valero.
It would indeed be a very attractive match up but unlikely to happen in the US where Valero is prevented from fighting after being refused a boxing licence due to a head injury he sustained in a motor cycle accident some years ago.
