Villanueva Outscores Rivera In Mexico City


Undefeated prospect Matt “Mighty” Villanueva, 10-0-1-(8), scored a 10 round unanimous decision win over former world title challenger Julian Rivera, 12-8-1-(2) to win the vacant WBO Latino super flyweight title at the El Plaza Condesa in Mexico City on Friday. The scores were 98-92 twice and 96-94

 

On the undercard flyweight Salvador “Pelon” Juarez scored a surprise win over Carlos Barraza. An uppercut laid out Barraza in round two.

 

In a super bantamweight bout Mexican Oscar Pena scored a six round majority win over Jessie Villanueva. Vilanueva was decked in round one, the scores were 57-56 twice for Pena and 56-56.
