The World Boxing Council has concluded its 51st Convention in Bangkok, Thailand by unanimously ratifying Jose Sulaiman as its continuing President and officially stating: "We consider Jose Sulaiman our lifetime leader and inspiration."
The tribute comes as a tonic to Don Jose, who’s steadily recovering from heart surgery in the UCLA Medical Center. This is the first WBC Convention he’s been unable to attend in 45 years. The Convention itself was magnificently arranged and achieved with exceptional attention to detail and wonderfully memorable hospitality by General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, who’s the President of WBC Asia.
WBC Executive Secretary Mauricio Sulaiman, who’s constantly been at his Father’s side during the recovery phase following Don Jose’s heart surgery at UCLA Medical Center, recieved a thoroughly deserved stranding ovation from everyone at the Convention, for his brilliant coodination of the day to day business, which was conducted with efficency, goal orientated direction, moderation, patience, subtlety, and moesty, punctiated with sparkling good humor. This created, generated and nutured a palpable feeling of goodwill and cooperation.
Mauricio stressed that his Father had worked tirelessly to prepare the Agenda for this Convention. He also praised the outstanding work of the WBC staff who’ve laid the groundwork for him to be able to do what he did, and in a heartfelt tribute of his own, he significantly added: "Don Jose is our leader. The WBC is his life. He will be back." Commenting about the resolution he said: "This is one of the most important moments of his life."
