WBC clarifies Staus Of Super Flyweight Silver Title


The WBC has to clarified the status of the super flyweight division.


Current WBC silver champion Carlos Cuadras was named mandatory contender for the WBC super flyweight division.


Based on this, the WBC authorized and sanctioned the fight between David Sanchez and Marlon Tapales for the WBC silver title.


Carlos Cuadras had stressed his wished to defend his silver title while he awaits the fight for the WBC world title, after his bout against current champion Yota Sato was postponed.


The WBC named David Sanchez WBC silver interim champion and will be regular silver champion after Cuadras signs for his fight for the WBC title.


For the time being, both boxers are allowed to defend their silver titles while Cuadras fights for the absolute title later this year.


According to the World Boxing Council the silver title was created in 2010 to project the top prospects in boxing, such as "Canelo" Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Abner Mares, and to support the activity of stars like Erik Morales, Amir Khan and Edgar Sosa, among others.
