By Erich Glavitza: Before a packed crowd at the Dessauer Boxnacht“ Viennese lightweight Nicole Wesner debuted against Czech Hana Horakova (8-6-2) and won by unanimous decision over four rounds.
Austria’s first amateur-boxer started quite cautiously during the first round, but as soon as she got her jab working she became more and more confident and took over the command of the fight. With her long range she kept her stocky opponent at bay and easily controlled Horakova.
Nicole Wesner, a University graduate in economic science, quit her job at Hoffman-Laroche to concentrates on her pro career. The „Dessauer Boxnacht“ at the Anhalt-Arena, some 100 miles southwest of Berlin, was the second pro event and brought many celebrities from German film and show business to Dessau, amongst them the WBO-middleweight champion Christina Hammer (13-0) and former WBO super-middleweight-titlist Robert Stieglitz.
