Unbeaten American heavyweight Deontay Wilder has landed a clash with former WBO heavyweight champion Sergey ‘White Wolf’ Liakhovich. The Tuscaloosa based boxer faces Liakhovich on a Showtime televised card in Indio, California on August 9.
“I know he’s never been stopped in less than nine rounds,” Wilder’s co-manager Jay Deas told the Tuscaloosa news “He’s very skilled, very tough. He hits pretty hard. He’s got a lot of resiliency. You can tell he’s from that Eastern European amateur system. It looks like he’s had a ton of amateur fights. He has a lot of know how. You have to do everything right when you fight him. He’s been 12 rounds several times. He’s went the distance at the highest level, so he’s a very skilled fighter. He knows what it’s like to be deep into a fight. We’re excited about this.”
Wilder, who recently bombed out former Olympic super heavyweight champion Audley Harrison on one round, faces his toughest test at the Fantasy Springs Casino and Resort.
