Despite being knocked down in the eighth round WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, 48-2-1-(34), recovered to score a stunning eighth round knockout over the previously unbeaten Rakhim Chakhkiev, 16-1-(12) at the Dynamo Palace of Sports in Moscow, Russia on Friday.
Chakhkiev made an aggressive start and cut Wlodarczyk over the right eye in the opening round. Wlodarczyk recovered to make a battle of it in round two but the challenger still proved dangerous.

Wlodarczyk decked Chakhkiev again with a left hook in round seven and twice more in round eight. The bout was stopped by referee Daniel Van de Wiele in round eight.
On the undercard two unbeaten cruiserweight prospects Andrey Knyazev scored a 12 round decision win over Anar Mammadov. Knyazev decked Mammadov twice in round nine, but could not finish the job. Knyazev won the vacant PABA title with scores of 120-106, 120-107 and 118-110.
