Zaveck Still IBF Champ


Jan Zaveck defeated Rafal Jackiewicz to retain his IBF welterweight crown at the Sportpark Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Saturday night.

At the end of 12 hard rounds in which the champion finished strongly, Zaveck was judged a clear winner on two judges cards by scores of 117-111,117-111, while the third official saw the bout even at 114-114.

Jan Zaveck improves to 30-1-(17), while Jackiewicz falls to, 36-9-1-(18).

On the undercard light heavyweight Denis Simcic, 23-1-(14), scored a devastating ninth knockout against Istvan Varga, 17-12-(5). Varga was worryingly taken from the ring on a stretcher.

In other action light heavyweight Predrag Radosevic improved his record to, 20-0-(8), with a fourth round tko win over Thomas Hengstberger Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Goran Delic, 17-0-(3), out-pointed Attila Makula over six rounds.
