Shane Singleton stops Adil Anwar in Manchester

As the chief support on the Crolla vs Barroso fight Shane Singleton from Conle 22-1-7KO’s faced Leeds fighter Adil Anwar 27-5-8ko’s for the vacant WBC International Welterweight title.

 

In round one both fighter’s were cagey at first but it was Singleton who found his range first. Singleton rocked Anwar with a left hand and Anwar tried to answer with a right hand of his own. Singleton slipped the right hand and lands a left hook followed by a right which puts Anwar over. Anwar was clearly shaken by the punch but he managed to beat the count.

 

From round’s two to seven Anwar worked his way back into the fight and it was hard to split the pair and it looked like it was going to be a war of nutrition. In round 8 Singleton lands a straight right hand and Anwar collapsed in the middle of the ring for the second time in the fight. Somehow Anwar beats the count again only to be subjected to more punishment.

 

Singleton goes in for the finish and lands a left hook which pushes Anwar back to the ropes. Singleton lands another vicious left hook followed by a flurry of punches and the referee decided to stop the fight at 1.31 in the 8th round.
