Two time world champion Lorenzo Aragon from Cuba cruised effortlessly to the second round of the welterweight (69kgs) competition with a third round stoppage win over local fighter Theodoros Kotakos.
It was always going to be an uphill struggle for the Greek fighter , the referee stopped the contest in the third session when Kotakos was behind by 28 points.
The 30 year-old is one of the most experienced boxers at the Games having fought more than 400 bouts in a long career and is desperate to win Olympic Gold, one of the few titles that has so far eluded him.
The classy Cuban will now face American rival Vanes Martirosyan in the next round. Martirosyan booked his place against Aragon after out-pointing Algerian Benamar Meskine 45-20.
