Featherweight results day 10




Cuban Luis Franco Vazquez, one of the favourites to strike Gold in Athens failed to reach the semi final stag when he was out-pointed by world silver medallist Vitali Tajbert from Germany by 34 points to 26.

The German ace proved the master counter puncher as he notched up the points as Vazquez rushed in to land his own punches. Vaazquez worked very hard to try and pull out something special but it was not to be.

Tajbert will now face Song Guk Kim in the semi final. Guk Kim from the Peoples Republic of Korea out-pointed Nigerian Muideen Ganiyu by 32-11.

Korean Seok Hwan Jo progressed to the medal stages in the last featherweight bout of the night of the featherweight tournament by scoring a tight 39-36 points win over Romanian Viorel Simion in the third quarterfinal. He will now meet Russian ace Alexei Tichtchenko in the
