Featherweight results day 7
An impressive display of combination punching by Cuban lightweight Franco Vazquez proved the difference against Brazilian Carlos Velazquez at the Peristeri Hall in Athens earlier today.
Vazquez prevailed 30-15 and now faces German Vitali Tajbert in the last eight.
Tajbert, the European champion, repeated a win over Frenchman Khedafi Djelkhir The Frenchman went on the attack in the opening session in a bid to stamp his authority but Tajbert countered well and eventually finished a clear winner by 40-26.
In other bouts Song Guk Kim from Korea booked his place in the quarterfinals with a 25-14 win over Georgia's Konstantine Kupatadze while Nigerian Muideen Ganiyu out-pointed Khumiso Ikgopoleng by 25-16.
