Although Saul Alvarez put a dent in Gennady Golovkin’s perfect record by nicking a draw in September,2017, Golovkin did look to have done enough to preserve his 100% record and thus retains his No.1 ranking.

 

Golovkin and Alvarez were set to rematch on May 5 in Las Vegas to settle the score once and for all. But when Alvarez failed a drug test Vanes Martirosyan stepped in and was promptly bombed out inside two rounds.

 

With Alvarez now clear to fight, the rematch with Golovkin has now been set for September 15 in Las Vegas
