Russian heavyweight hope Magomed “Mago” Abdusalamov, 15-0-(15), kept his 100 percent record firmly intact at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on Friday when he scored an impressive second round tko over Maurice “Freight Train” Byarm,13-2-1-(9).
Abdusalamov was in no mood to mess around in the opening round by battering Byarm from the opening bell until the round ended. Byram managed to make it to his corner but it was quickly apparent that the fight would not go much further.
Predictably, Abdusalamov rushed in for the finish at the start of round two and immediately decked Byarm. Before referee Tony Weeks jumped in to call off the fight after 0.36 of the round.
In the co main event featherweight prospect Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna, 20-0-(15), remained unbeaten by scoring an explosive second round knockout against former IBF featherweight champ Cristobal Cruz, 39-14-(23). Fortuna florred Cruz in rounds one and two. The bout was eventually stopped after the second knockdown after 2:22.
