In a clash of former world heavyweight title contenders Tomasz Adamek unanimously out-pointed American Eddie Chambers over 12 rounds at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Adamek, 46‐2-(29), won a tactical fight against the quicker Chambers by scores of 116-112, 116-112 and 119-109 on all the judges cards. Chambers sustained an injury to his left arm early in the fight.
On the undercard unbeaten heavyweight Bryant Jennings improved his record to 14-0-(6), when he scored a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision win over Steve ’Freight Train’ Collins to win the vacant USBA heavyweight title. Jennings scored a knockdown in round four on his way to a 100-89 on all three judges cards.
In a middleweight clash Jamaal Davis,14-8-1-(6), outpointed Doel Carrasquillo, 16-20-1-(14), over eight rounds. The scores were 79-73, 78-74, 78-74.
Also at middleweight John “The Apollo Kid” Thompson used his reach advantage and better boxing skills to improve his record to 8-0-(2), against John ’No Mercy’ Mackey, 6-6-1-(2). The scores were 59-55 and 56-56 twice.
