Curt “The Hurt” Allan, 8-1-1-(3), returned after a 12 year lay off at the Elizabeth, IN Horseshoe Casino Southern Indiana on Friday(Jan 13) to defeat ‘King of the Four Rounders’ Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch, 77-9-4-(58).
The four round unanimous points win was sweet revenge for Allan, who was previously stopped by Esch inside three rounds back in January 1997. This time though, it was Allan’s turn to taste victory as he received the nod from all three judges by scores of 40-36 twice and 40-37.
Allan stayed out of Butterbean’s range much of the fight, instead choosing to box on the outside to avoid the surprisingly fast and heavy hitting reality tv star. ‘Butterbean’ did land the heavier punches in the opening round but the action was few and far between which was understandable considering the amount of time both men had been away from the ring.
‘Butterbean’ did his best to goad Allan into standing and fighting but the hometown boxer stuck to his game plan to secure the victory.
