Bantamweight contender Randy Caballero improved his unbeaten record to 21-0-(13), by defeating IBF#5 ranked Japanese boxer Kohei Ohba, 35-3-1-(14), via eighth round tko in Kobe, Japan on Friday.
Victory was all the more satisfying as the win was an IBF eliminator to decide the mandatory challenger for Stuart Hall’s bantamweight title.
Cabellero decked Ohba with a right hand counter punch towards the end of the first round. Ohba, fought back and battled but his hit and run tactics were no match for Caballero, who was far too strong and skilful for the Japanese boxer.
The sixth round was all Caballero, who marched forward and slowly battered the life out of Ohba. Caballero decked Ohba again in the eighth round, at which point his corner threw in the towel after 1.54 of the eighth.
