New Zealand heavyweight Shane Cameron scored a huge upset win over Monte Barrett in his home city of Auckland, New Zealand on Thursday by knocking out the American former world title challenger in the fourth round.
Barrett was the busier of the two early on but Cameron landed the more eye catching punches. The second round saw Cameron land a right hand that hurt Barrett for the first time in the fight after making many unsuccessful attempts.
The 41 year old was floored for the first time in the third round but the referee ruled it a slip Barrett was visibly shaken again after Cameron cracked him with an uppercut..
It was only a matter of time in the fourth round as to when Cameron was going to finish the fight That time came when Cameron rained in a few jabs before connecting with a well timed right hand on Barrett’s jaw to deck him for the full count. The official time of the knockout was 0,18 of the fourth round. A medical team rushed into the ring to provide Barrett with immediate attention.
