Castellanos, Carcamo score stoppage wins


WBC featherweight silver champion

Robinson “Robin” Castellanos successfully defended his WBC Silver Featheweight title with a scored a sixth round KO over Derrick Wilson.

 

Castellanos (19-9, 11 KOs) targeted the body early in the fight, but Wilson (10-5-2, 3 KOs) seemed happy to engage at close quarters. However the the WBC #2 managed to find another gear in the 6th and dropped Wilson with a solid right hand that ended matters.

 

Also in action at the Oasis Arena in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, was 2004 United States Olympian Vicente Escobedo against fellow Lightweight Fernando Carcamo. Carcamco shocked the crowd by derailing Escobedo with a huge left hook in the 2nd round.

 

Another Lightweight contest saw Abner Cotto stop Daniel Ruiz in 4.
