2008 Olympic Gold medallist James "Chunky" DeGale edged closer to a world title shot with a one sided win over Dyah Davis at the Glow nightclub in Bluewater, Kent on Saturday night.
Southpaw DeGale was in command throughout but never managed to fully hurt the son of fellow former Olympic champion, Howard Davis Jr.
Each of the three judges scored the fight in favour of the WBC Silver Super Middleweight title holder from London, 118-110. With the win DeGale marches towards a fight with Miguel Antonio Peribán of Mexico, and if successful in that bout he will be on a collision course with Julio Cesear Chavez Jr in a final eliminator for a world title.
Degale moves to 17-1, 11 KOs with his sole loss coming against bitter rival George Groves who is in action against Carl Froch next saturday in a domestic clash where he will no doubt be hoping to face the winner. Dyah falls to 22-4-1, 10 KOs.
Chris Eubank Jr, son of former two weight World Champion, Chris Eubank scored a 6th round tko victory over Frankie Borg on the undercard. Eubank Jr looked sharp and in control and will be pushing promoter Mick Hennessey for a shot at british champion Billy-Joe Saunders.
Lenny Daws beat Tony Pace by 6 round decision improving his record to 26-3-2, 10 KOs whilst Pace drops to 4-6-1, 0 KOs
